St. Patrick was a person who lived during the fifth-century.  He was born in Roman Britain where he was later kidnapped and brought to Ireland at 16 to be a slave. Eventually, Patrick escaped the slave life but later returned to Ireland with Christianity and was credited for introducing the religion to the people. Patrick’s life was long but sadly his death was believed to happen on March 17, A.D. 461 at only 78 years old.  After his passing, the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in Irish Culture. The most well known legend of St. Patrick is that he explained The Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish Clover named the Shamrock.

Additional Information about St. Patrick’s Day:

Since the 9th-10th century, people in Ireland have been observing the Roman Catholic feast day of St. Patrick on March 17. Although this holiday is a Irish tradition the first St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in America following the classic tradition of wearing green to not get pinched. The mascot of the holiday is the magical Leprechaun because both originated from Ireland. Maybe this St.Patrick’s you’ll find the lucky gold at the end of the rainbow.
