Classic Movie Reviews
Three must see classic movies
Throughout the course of a week we watched three classic movies many of you have heard of. The movies that we watched were the following: Ferris Buler’s Day Off, 13 Going On 30, and Scream 1. These movies consist of humor, romance, and suspense. As we watched these movies, we were looking for character development, visuals, and context clues.
Ferris Buler’s Day Off was released on June 11th, 1986. The movie was based around Ferris Buler, a highschooler who had a skill of ditching classes and getting away with it. Right before he graduates he calls in sick one day, and the movie is based around their one-day adventures. Based on character development, Ferris Buler starts of the movie being rebellious and dishonest. Towards the end, he starts to feel sympathy for putting his friends through his adventurous day. Ferris started off the movie “sick” and pretending in order to skip school that particular day. By the end of the movie he had more sympathy for his friends and family.
13 Going On 30 was made and released in 2004. The movie was based around the social structure of junior high schooler, Jenna, who wants a boyfriend and to be treated like an adult. Suddenly, her desire becomes a reality. She was sitting in a closet when a bit of fairy dust spilled on her while wishing to become older. She woke up as a 30 year old. This movie goes through her adventures of being a 30 year old but also trying to relive her past as a 13 year old girl. Jenna was a 13 year old in the beginning wanting to be older, but by the end of the movie she was grateful for where she was at in life being a 13 year old!
Scream was made and released in 1996. The movie is about a masked maniac killer that stalks their fellow high-school classmates for fun. A teenage girl, Sydney, whose mother was killed a year before, becomes the target of the masked killer. Her boyfriend, Billy, becomes the main suspect along with Sydney’s father. Sydney started off the movie playing along with the act, but by the end, she realized it was not an act and survived the gruesome attack by her boyfriend.
