- Rally
Overall; Many if not all students on campus can agree this year’s homecoming was one to beat. These examples being Mia Tobanico and Zoey Swartz.
Zoey, who was primarily looking forward to the food being sold at the booths, says; “I’m excited about the carnival, but I wish we did more related to Friday the 13th. It is on the same day after all.”
This year’s homecoming is the first in decades to be held on Friday the 13th. Do you agree with zoey?
Mia, a Mecha club performer, mentioned how she wasn’t particularly interested in anything the carnival had to offer, but adds “Homecoming dress week was fun though, I dressed as a psychologist for career day too.”
Disregarding previous opinions and speculation; the rally came pieced perfectly together with different aspects of different video games, Compiled together with different aspects of different consoles; Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo, Mobile games such as Fireboy and Watergirl- even aspects from Minecraft came out during the rally too.
As Kobe Davis and Gianna Vasconcelos led the rally, it truly started when the club performances began. Poly club, Stomp, and Mecha truly made an entrance with their large number of members, their performances ground-shaking with amazing execution by each participating member. Unlike previous years, Drama club made an appearance at the rally, and performed “Bend and Snap” from Legally Blonde, the collective of students which performed, earning an outstanding round of applause. All the costumes, props, and other artwork used to form this homecoming made a lasting impression on the freshmen as well, introducing them onto the campus with this event.
Go!
- Carnival
Brought to you by most, if not all, clubs on campus. The Homecoming Carnival hosted a variety of games, food, and entertainment. Starting with the winning booth, Ceramics Arts club displayed their homecoming spirit with a Tetris themed booth, selling both popcorn, otter pops, and even hosting a free service- A free photo booth! Their booth was compiled with multi-colored Tetris shaped pieces, while other booths used items like subway-surfer cardboard cut-outs’ to decorate their booth.
The themes ranged from Mortal Kombat, Subway Surfers, all the way to GSA’s “The Last of Us” theme. Drama club, who based their booth off of Mortal kombat, sold Red vines and punch. They managed to profit 170$ from the tickets spent at their booth, which was generously run by Mr. Shary. (The Best Drama Teacher)
Performances & Talent show performances which took place at the rally blew the judges’ breath away. Each performance was rated by 3 judges.
Multiple performances from student-grouped bands played their own songs; the students themselves played either the drums, guitar, bass, or sang directly into a microphone. While some sang covers of songs, such as Michelle Morales and Anthony Thaka, the third-place winners played piano and sang together. Others, like Sam Cook, played their own written songs and performed at the same time. Though regardless of the small details, the hard work that went into each performance should be recognized, so remember to give each performer another round of applause.
