Kickoff to Playoffs

The Complete NFL Playoff Guide

It’s a new year, the regular season is over, and it’s finally time for playoff football! The postseason started the weekend of January 13th, to January 15th. The NFL playoffs consist of 14 teams. 7 from the National Football Conference (NFC) and 7 from the American Football Conference (AFC). The first round, titled The Super Wild Card Round, is over and now it’s known which top teams will be competing for the Super Bowl on February 11th. In the Wild Card Round, we had 6 games played.

In the AFC we had, The Buffalo Bills beating the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Kansas City Chiefs beating the Miami Dolphins, and the Houston Texans beating the Cleveland Browns. The NFC was much more interesting due to two major upsets. The Detroit Lions beat the LA Rams, while the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers surprisingly took down the Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles respectively. Fans were extremely discouraged as The Cowboys, who were the 2nd best team in the NFC, and the Eagles, who were just coming off a Superbowl appearance, both put up disappointing performances.

In the Divisional round there  are  4 games. The one seed San Francisco 49ers taking on the Green Bay Packers. As Well as the Detroit Lions facing off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC. Across the bracket, The one seed Baltimore Ravens are playing the Houston Texans, and the Bills having another rematch with the Chiefs.

As we fast forward to the Super Bowl, there have been some conspiracy theories recently surrounding the logo for the superbowl. Before every NFL season starts, the NFL releases the logo for the upcoming Super Bowl. These logos consist of colors usually associated with the neutral site picked for the big game. However over the last 2 seasons the logo has accurately predicted the two teams playing in the Super Bowl. And they have a very good chance of doing it again! In 2022, the match up was the LA Rams (yellow)  vs. the Cincinnati Bengals (orange). The logo happened to be a mix of yellow and orange. In 2023, The Chiefs (red)  took down the Eagles (green) in a thriller. The logo, once again, had a mix of green and red. If it happens once, it’s just a coincidence. But twice in a row? This year, the colors are purple and red. This  obviously points to a Ravens vs 49ers Super Bowl. It makes even more sense when you factor in those two teams having the two best records in the NFL this season. In review, the rest of the postseason will be very fascinating, and it will be fun to see if the logo is right again with its prediction.
