Stockton- To start off this week’s highlights, girls golf had a fantastic week with two wins against Kimball and West. First, they played Kimball on the 18th at Brookside Country Club with a tally of 244-293. The player of the match was Senior Amulya Nakka with a total of 37 on a 9-hole course with a par of 36. Later that week on the 20th, they played at West and were victorious with a total of 253-331. The player of this match was junior Kellen Waters with a score of 42 on a 9-hole course with a par of 37. Overall, the Trojan girls are first in the Tri-City and will have their next match later in October.
Next up is our girls volleyball program, whose Junior Varsity and varsity teams won their first league games against Kimball at home on the 19th. The JV team played a tough three-set match, winning the first set 26-24 in a close battle but losing the second set 24-26. Before the third, the girls regrouped and came out strong, winning the third set 15-9! The Varsity girls started right after, ready to play and winning the first set 25-11. However, the Trojans lost the second 25-16 but did not let this stop them from coming back and securing the win. They held the Jaguars to under 10 points in the third and fourth sets with scores of 25-5 and 25-9.
On Saturday, the 21st, the JV team played their annual Stockton Classic tournament, where they had tremendous success and got 2nd place overall. To speak about her experience so far this season and how she felt about the tournament is Sophomore Co-Captain Penelope Krotter. When asked how she feels about her team this year, she commented that her team this year is fun, and her favorite part is the atmosphere and sisterly love and bond her team shares. She felt her experience this weekend at the tournament was positive, and when talking about her favorite part of the weekend, she noted, “My favorite part of the weekend was when someone on the team made a good play and the crowd went crazy. I love the adrenaline rush that the crowd gives me and the team.” So far this season JV is doing well, and all of the volleyball teams will have games this upcoming week at home and away.
Other teams that came out of the week with a win were varsity girls flag football with a score of 31-12 against West and varsity boys water polo, which also defeated West 19-5. While Lincoln’s varsity football team did not win their game against Manteca this past week, a highlight from the game was freshman quarterback Kenneth Lee Simmons III, who had a great game and stepped up and helped lead the team. To finish off the week, Lincoln’s cross country had 18 of their athletes win top 20 medals at the Bret Harte Frogtown Invite. Trojan Sports had a great week, and all teams are looking forward to competing in their upcoming games this week and hoping to come out of them triumphant. Check out the Lincolnian next week for the weekly highlights of September 16th to the 20th!
