Here today, we are talking about some of the best Halloween movies of the last 2 decades. These moves range from psychological horror to thriller to slashers. Today we are going to talk about these movies and how good they really are in our community.
IT: Chapter II to me is a 7/10, it has its scary scenes and its jumpscares. Some scenes that did scare me were the parts where they had to separate and get something to use for a ritual to defeat and kill Pennywise.
I talked to Xzavier Villegas and he had some words, “The movie was good considering it continues with the storyline of the Losers’ Club, they were able to defeat Pennywise again after their reunion and death of one of the Losers’. 7/10”
2. Trick ‘r Treat
Trick or Treat is a decent horror movie in my perspective, it talks about an old but young being named Sam. Sam is a good but bad being, his purpose is to keep the Halloween spirit in the people of Warren Valley, Ohio, but to those who don’t embrace or ignore Halloween, Sam will find and kill them, 5/10.
I interviewed Woltron O. and he stated, “It’s a good movie but it isn’t as scary as other horror movies but his head looks like a pumpkin and he’s pretty ugly. 5.5/10”.
3. Candy-Man
Candy-man is nasty and gorey. One scene that disgusts me is when the bees come out of his mouth because they used actual bees that were flying and stinging out of his mouth. It has its amount of jumpscares and its amount of kills, 7.5/10. I had an interview with Michael Aregato,” There’s not a lot of plot, not a lot really happens. It has good effects, the scenes are put together and the acting is good. 6.5/10”
4. Unfriended: Dark Web
Unfriended is a story where friends find a laptop and get access to the dark web. Then the group of friends join up in a call and joke around with each other, all of a sudden a random person texts one of the main characters friends facebook and warns him. Nearly everyone of his friends get taken down by a group of people and may be killing them until the laptop is returned. It’s not too scary, just some unexpected jumps 6/10.
I interviewed Mataje White, he stated, “It was a really good movie and had lots of plot and he recommends it to anyone who likes scary movies, 8/10.”
5. Sinister
In the beginning of the movie we see a family of 4 getting hanged from a tree, we see the main character somewhere opening a box and getting a movie projector and playing tapes of murder. The tapes could be revealing a possible serial killer in some murder cases he is researching. The murder manipulates children into doing the murders for him and who then goes and kills the children himself, 8/10. I interviewed my colleague Titus Thompson and this is what he had to say, “The movie was okay, but I believe they should remake the movie with better effects and visuals, I will rate this movie a 8/10 would recommend but not that good for rewatching purposes.”
6. Smile
Smile is a psychological horror movie based around the protagonist Rose, a nurse who watches someone kill themselves. I would recommend this move to people who genuinely enjoy horror movies. I would rate the movie 8.5/10 it also is good rewatch movie whenever.
Words from Felita Thompson:
I would recommend this movie to anyone even if you don’t watch horror movies. The movie has a good story and I would rate this movie 9/10 , I would definitely recommend it.
7. Doctor Sleep
“Doctor Sleep,” directed by Mike Flanagan, serves as a gripping sequel to Stephen King’s “The Shining,” following the now-adult Danny Torrance as he grapples with the trauma of his childhood. The film explores themes of addiction, redemption, and the lingering effects of past horrors, as Danny seeks to protect a young girl with similar abilities from a sinister cult. With its haunting visuals and strong performances, “Doctor Sleep” effectively blends horror and emotional depth, offering a thoughtful reflection on healing and the struggle against darkness. i rate this movie a 7/10 and i would recommend it for a good rewatch movie
Words from keylee gizel:
I went to see this movie with Titus and I really enjoyed it. The plot was ok but the acting and the main villain was the key point of the movie. I would recommend this to people who are a fan of the shining. Would rate this movie a 7.5/10.

As they seek help, they discover that Dalton has the ability to astral project, leading to terrifying encounters with dark entities in a realm called “The Further.” The film effectively builds tension and fear, using atmospheric sound design and chilling visuals to explore themes of fear, loss, and the fight to protect one’s loved ones from otherworldly dangers.

“It Chapter Two” continues the story of the Losers’ Club, now adults, as they reunite in Derry to confront the shape-shifting entity, Pennywise, which has returned to terrorize the town. As they face their traumatic past and the horrors of their childhood, each member must confront their deepest fears to defeat Pennywise once and for all. The film blends horror with themes of friendship and the power of memory, culminating in a gripping battle against an ancient evil it .
