Stockton- Since her arrival at the school 12 years ago, she has been a fundamental piece of the educational body, standing out not only for her professional dedication but also her personal qualities, becoming a source of great help mainly for those students who have English as a second language. Being this the main motivation of her staying, the necessary of those students to guide them through the very beginning process to get adapted to a new language, used to be hard but with Mrs. Sugey’s help will be more understood.
Mrs. Sujey´s work goes farther than just being the administrator of the multilingual center; with a great personality that gives confidence, she voluntarily gets involved in the educational life of the students, attending classes with them, providing support and attention, this encourages that students do not find themselves struggling with the change in the educational system, especially for all those who are adapting to a new language. The importance of her work is evident in the impact it creates on the students by creating an environment in which they feel supported, not only facilitates learning a language but also improves the self-esteem of each of them.
The ways she apply to the students to make them feel more comfortable are worthy of admiration, as she dedicated her time to talk to the students and find in what part they are struggling, and then work together with them until they have understood how to overcome these situations; this support that students have is reflected on their academy results making them feels more connected with the classes even if there are part a little confused they know about a person who can teach them the way to do it.
Most part of the time Mrs. Sugey is directing the Multilingual Center, in what her main task is to be the communication between Spanish-spoken parents and school or we can call her as she describes herself “The bridge between students, parents and school”. Making sure that the parents are always informed about their children’s education, but one thing that is relevant of what she have achievement is that she has transformed the Multilingual Center in a place where see a space where they feel comfortable speaking their native language; She has implemented multiple cultural activities that keep the traditions of each nationality alive, such as the celebreiring of each countries independence day, cinco de mayo or even cooking differents traditionals food from differents countries, and another way that she does express comfort to other will be the aspect of the Center always representing a small part in which each student is invited to decorate the center with something representative of their cultures.
Mrs. Sujey’s impact on the school community is undeniable. These experiences have marked the life of each student who has passed from the multilingual center.
