Stockton- Mrs. Buhr is a Spanish teacher at Lincoln High School and is well-loved in the Lincoln community. Many students like her, Including a current student taking her class, named Tyler, “I think Mrs. Buhr is a very fun and adventurous person, and many people should have someone like her in their life.” Tyler says that he loves her class, and says she brings great energy. Mrs. Buhr teaches Spanish 1 and 3 and is known for being an excellent educator as well, as Izahias puts it, “Mrs. Buhr is great at teaching, and she always explains everything perfectly.” In addition to her teaching career, Mrs. Buhr played women’s volleyball at East Tennessee State University, where she excelled as a player. She also has a deep passion for traveling and studying the Bible. Mrs. Buhr is also happily married to her husband she met during 2021. Mrs. Buhr is also a devoted Christian and one of her favorite verses is Romans 8:39, which states “nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Mrs. Buhr likes this verse because it has a good way to go about death.
One of Mrs. Buhrs greatest passions is traveling, she has visited 37 countries and counting. She is currently planning her next adventure, “My next trip that I’m going on—I’ve actually been working on it for a year and a half.” The itinerary includes, as Mrs. Buhr puts it, “It is a group—we’re doing a group of us and we’re gonna do a Safari, and a little beach town, and go see Victoria Falls.” Mrs. Buhr notes that coordinating the details and securing all the necessary verifications has been quite a hassle, especially when it comes to booking hotels.
Mrs. Buhr’s favorite countries are Cambodia, Vietnam, and India. She loves Cambodia for its rich history and the significant events that have taken place there in recent and past years. In Vietnam, she particularly enjoys the food, claiming it is the best she has ever tasted. One memorable experience Mrs. Buhr had was when she “slept in a cave during Christmas in Vietnam, which was rad.” Mrs. Buhr then said, “Santa did not find me; Santa and I have some beef to work out, it’s cool.” During her time in Vietnam, she also took a food tour, traveling on a scooter along with the locals, as most people in Vietnam use scooters instead of cars. On this delightful food tour, one dish that stood out to her was Bánh Xéo, which are thin pancakes filled with fresh vegetables. Lastly, what she appreciates most about India is the intricate architecture, vibrant scenery, and, of course, the food. Mrs Buhr explained that “it was so colorful and had so much rich culture, and the food was also amazing.”
Mrs. Buhr offers some valuable tips for future travelers. She emphasizes that you can save money and make travel affordable while still enjoying a great experience. According to her, there is a distinction between vacationing and traveling. She believes that vacationing is primarily about relaxing and doing little while still having fun. In contrast, traveling presents a more challenging experience, as it involves navigating various logistical issues, but it can still be enjoyable. Some of the most challenging aspects of traveling include transportation and mobility. The reason these are so difficult is because they have to be planned in advance and if they are to be done last minute it will be a very messy situation.
Another tip Mrs. Buhr gives is to have a duality between traveling in groups and solo. The reason she recommends traveling solo is that it makes you stronger and there is no one swaying you on where to go, because when traveling with others the people in the group may not agree on where to go next. However, she says that traveling in a group is very fun as well because you can share the experience with friends.
Mrs. Buhr notes that she documents her travels. She said, “We think we’re gonna remember everything but we don’t.” She maintained a blog that her mother and a few others followed. Occasionally, she reviews the blog to reminisce about fond memories. In order to write what she experienced each day she “kept a running google doc of all the experiences” she had. When the day was over she would go and write about everything that happened that day. Additionally, Mrs. Buhr connects the photos she takes during her trips with her writing for better understanding.

Mrs. Buhr is also in a club FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). She says that you do not need to be an athlete or Christian to join and they are very welcoming. The point of the club is to share love and light to the campus. There is also an occasional guest speaker that speaks in their meetings. Mrs. Buhr is a great teacher on campus, and she is always supportive and encouraging to all students, both in and out of the classroom. If you would like to meet her I suggest joining her club or taking her Spanish class. She will teach you a lot and in a fun way!
