Stockton- Tommi Cahoon is a senior at LIncoln High School. She’s a dancer and a performer. She has been dancing for almost all her life, dedicated 11 years to dancing. Tommi is a very friendly and nice person, she is also very talkative. She’s a great dancer who often performs at Lincoln High School rallies as a part of the. She has started her own club at school called the “Folklorica Club”.
Tommi is a person who likes to travel a lot. She likes going out to see the world. She doesn’t just travel to see different places, but she travels as a part of her dancing career. She has performed at places all around California, in different towns, and has even performed at Disneyland. She has also performed for an NBA game before in a match between the Sacramento Kings and The Los Angeles Lakers. But outside of dance, she has traveled to places like Boston Massachutes and Maine to visit her family who live there. She has also been to plenty of places outside the United States. She has been to the United Kingdom to visit London. She has been to Spain to visit Barcelona, Sitges, and Tarragona. She has also been to other parts of Europe, like France to visit Paris. She also went to Nice in France and even to Brussels in Belgium.
Tommi also has very many hobbies she does outside of dancing. She is a very creative person who likes to draw and she is good at it. She also likes to sing. She always makes it a priority to have time to hang out with her family and her friends. Tommi has also helped local bands in Stockton and in the 209 area to write songs. She has done JIU Jitsu. She learned sign language to help better communicate with a long time friend of hers who is deaf. Tommi comes from a family with a lot of veterans, so when she can, she likes to help volunteer at veteran halls.
Tommi didn’t just become a great dancer, a great performer, and a great person all by luck, she has worked hard for it all. Tommi isn’t immune to hardships, she has had her fair share of them. She has had doubts about continuing to dance. She has had a lot of people around her trying to put her down, saying that she isn’t good enough or that she didn’t belong. Just recently, she has been diagnosed with a blood disease known as Von Willebrand (VWD). VWD is a bleeding disorder that affects the blood’s ability to clot properly. It passes from parents to their kids. There is currently no cure for the disease but there are treatments that can help manage bleeding and prevent complications that come with it. She has always had a passion for dancing. When she was little, she used to stay until practice was over to keep going. But this diagnosis hasn’t stopped her from pursuing her dreams. Even though it’s harder for her to dance for long periods of time, she keeps going, motivated by what her late Theo Mike told her, “Never stop expressing yourself, you are making our family proud.”
Tommi is liked by many of the staff here at Lincoln High School. Mrs Setness, a teacher at Lincoln, who teaches world literature and speech & debate, has talked very highly of her. Mrs. Setness thinks Tommi is a great student and believes that she has a bright future ahead of her. Her grandparents also have spoken very fondly of her. They said that Tommi is a great kid and a great friend to those around her. Those around Tommi all have nice things to say about her as a student, but most importantly, as a person.
Many people would say Tommi is a very humble and down to earth person. What motivates her to keep going are the little kids at the studio who look up to her and want to be like her. “Never stop your dreams, they’re always someone behind you following your footsteps.” Tommi Cahoon. When asked what her dreams were, they were simple; pursue dancing, inspire as many people as she can, and have a family of her own. Tommi has been accepted into the University of the Pacific here in Stockton, California, where she plans to study civil engineering.
