Ana Mendoza is a senior at Lincoln high school. Her story began when she was a child. In her circumstances, having anorexia at a young age was not uncommon and in fact very common. She has been struggling with anorexia from the ages 5-16. She is a very strong, courageous, and vulnerable woman. Once she reached the 10th grade going to the gym became a huge thing for her and her friends! However she understood it wasn’t going to be as easy for her to gain muscle. This is because her body physically would not allow her to gain much weight no matter how much she ate. However she in fact did not let that discourage her and kept going. Throughout her journey she realized that it didn’t matter if she worked out everyday if she didn’t eat well. As a young woman she didn’t know many cooking recipes. Her solution to this was to do research online. She in fact found many recipes! Although she was now eating well she started tracking her meal taking to see how much more she had to eat a day. As time flew by she slowly started seeing progress! However, these results did not happen overnight. It did in fact take her about 2-3 months of being consistent to see progress. During this duration of her working out she had her friends America, and Ivon by her side. They slowly realized as well how much character it built within her. America had also stated that “she showed many others if you believe in yourself you can accomplish many great things”. Don’t let a doctor’s note, a person, or anyone define what you can and can’t do! Ivon on the other hand stated “She showed many doubters that no matter your physical circumstance anything is possible.” Keep pushing yourself for better and never give up!
