Stockton- Lincoln introduced a brand new event! It’s called the Freshman Tailgate. According to the Link Crew leader Sydney Chen, the event was made to “promote the freshman football game and school spirit.” This special event was hosted by Lincoln’s Link Crew members and Lincoln’s staff. There were delicious burgers grilled by Mrs. Bender, interactive games to win prizes and other activities to prepare for the first freshman home game of the year! When speaking with freshman football player Elijah Abadan, he expressed his feelings towards the game as “ nervous excitement.”
The team has been preparing for this season since the summer. Becoming a Freshman is an amazing experience and it can only happen once in life. This time is meant to be cherished so attending the event was an excellent way to get involved with the campus culture. While speaking to Freshman August Moore, at first he knew nothing about the event. When told he became very excited and said, “I will make sure I go and bring some friends as well!” You don’t have to be a freshman to attend; all grades were welcome to come out and support!
Did I forget to mention that it was all completely FREE? Attending also granted all who came free admission to watch the game as well! Mr Gadeke, the campus culture director had explained “It’s hard to get it going for the first time but it’s a good idea to keep it going to make each home game special.” The atmosphere was described by the students there as “uplifting and bright.” Some of the students favorite parts were the burgers, and for others it was the way they could connect and meet new people. The success of the event allows staff to continue the event and evolve it.
Staying informed is very important to know what is happening on campus. Be sure to look at the student bulletin to get the information you need. And come to the next tailgate and support our
