Stockton- Fall has come upon the year and with that comes all the exciting new events. The drama club had been working hard to think of an exciting play to captivate the attention of the students and staff here at Lincoln High School. They have decided to choose a classic play that still brings so much joy. This year’s play is the popular classic musical Mamma Mia!
How do I audition?
Students are wondering how to audition so they can secure their spots in the play. When interviewing casting director Mrs. Contino about how to audition, she replied, “So students can scan the QR codes on the flyers on campus, they can find the link for the audition form on the drama instagram, or they can email me personally and I can send them the form.” For students who are interested in performing there is a dance call November 10th, the days for character auditions are November 12-13th, and callbacks are November 14th. What is expected when auditioning?
It’s important to know what you’re doing and how to appeal to the casting director to ensure you have the highest chance of getting a spot in the play. When asking casting director Mrs. Contino what she looks for in auditions, she replied, “When casting, I mostly look for students who are prepared. I ask myself ‘Are they ready?’, ‘Do they understand the character?’ I don’t necessarily look for accuracy from the actual movie, I’m not asking for carbon copies. I simply want to know if students understand the characters.”
