Stockton- This school year at Lincoln High School, just like many other school years to come and go, our sophomores attended a fun and exciting experience: Juventus! Juventus is a whole day focused on creating relationships with other fellow classmates as well as focusing on building a campus community. This event is run by our very own Peer Counseling class full of many inspiring juniors and seniors and the class’s teacher, Ms. Cunningham. She focuses on teaching her students how to be able to help others and how to be a safe place for students to come to while also teaching us how to be in tune with our own emotions and with others as well. These skills are employed to create a fun and safe event called Juventus where students get put into groups with two to three student peer counselors and go through the day making valuable connections with those around them.
Ms Cunningham shared some of her thoughts on Juventus and what she enjoys, she said, “I enjoyed watching my kids thrive.” Ms. Cunningham was happy to watch her students lead and make new friendships with other students. One sophomore named Paul Tranhan said, “I learned how to be more social, while making new connections with people. I also met a lot of new people in my grade that I had never seen before which was pretty cool.” One of the Peer Counselors named Giselle Hernandez said, “I enjoyed getting to see all the underclassmen and getting to make new friends.”
