Stockton– I remember there was a time when I was not at a good point in my life and in grief about my poor decision with a few people that now dislike me. There was one person who I was close with who ghosted me; twice! I repeated the same behavior that led to them doing it the first time. I had to adjust to a lost friend, which felt weird, uncomfortable, and sorrowful. I dealt with a lot of what-if’s and wishing to change the past, or see the person where they are now; I even battled with inner resentment.
Then came one summer break, when I decided it was time to grow into my faith, and sought God for a change in character, direction, and to gain a Christ-like mindset. I did this through reading the book of Proverbs, a book full of proverbs , short sentences of advice . The qualities I received from the Book of Proverbs are derived from a master, Solomon (the wisest man). These qualities, including virtue, which helps coordinate intellect, will, and my moral compass, all allow me to act justly during any particular situation for the benefit of myself and others.
What did Christ help me with? Everything that had been tangled inside me—my emotions, my reactions, my sense of purpose. Faith didn’t erase the past, but it equipped me to face the future differently: more grounded, more self-aware, and more aligned with the person Christ calls me to become.
Through this relationship, I didn’t just find a belief system; I found a version of myself I didn’t know was possible. Today, I live with a severe patience and an inner peace that makes the future feel certain, no matter the chaos. If resilience and self-worth were once things I struggled to manufacture, they are now the foundation I stand on—and it’s a foundation I believe is available to anyone seeking that same quiet certainty.
