Stockton– Marie Curie was a scientist who did research on radioactivity. She was born in Warsaw, Poland on November 7, 1967. She grew up poor, but always had a strong education and an interest in science. At 24 she moved to Paris to continue her studies at the University of Paris and went on to become one of the most important figures in science.
Marie Curie discovered the elements polonium and radium, she also did major research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and she remains the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two different sciences, physics and chemistry. Her research helped lead to major breakthroughs in medicine, such as radiation therapy for cancer. She impacted many lives, such as doctors, patients, scientists, and her work is still very useful and is used today.
